Great apartments with a friendly and professional management team, and they have extremely rapid and thorough maintenance. The only problem is the marmot infestation. Would not recommend living here solely based on the risk of diseases like Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever and Relapsing Fever that are carried by marmots in the Northwest.

Selkirk is a very open community. Because the staff cares about the property and the residents, in return the residents have a great appreciation for the community as well. It is safe for kids and pets, and remarkable quiet at night.

While we only lived in Spokane for a year, we loved living at Selkirk. Finding a cat friendly place to rent was a real plus (after traveling 2000 miles cross country with a pregnant wife and our house cat, given a week to find a place to live and get settled in was just a teensy bit stressful to say the least). We found that most rentals in Spokane are not pet-friendly and those that are are usually not cat friendly. We found Selkirk looking for another apartment complex, stopped in and someone must have been looking out for us, because it was perfect for our needs. Our apartment was spacious and beautiful, the leasing agent was very nice and allowed us some breathing room to pay our second month's rent when direct deposit from my employer didn't pan out the way it should and my check was mailed to my old address in Cincinnati. Although we had no major maintenance problems when we lived there, we did encounter a problem with the dishwasher not draining properly. We notified the office and it was fixed the same day. The only other minus is when my parents visited, we had a tough time finding a place for them to park their rental car without getting a notice to move it. They finally parked in the grocery store parking lot across the street. When I was transferred back to the Midwest, we were sad to leave beautiful Spokane and sad to leave our home at Selkirk. We loved the location, with shopping nearby, but still far enough out to enjoy walking and hiking in the countryside. We also loved the citizens of Spokane. Everyone we met was friendly and welcoming. If we ever have the chance to move back that way in the future, we'd take it in a heartbeat.

It is nice and pleasant place to live. If there are maintenance issues, the problem is fixed in a very timely manner.
